Fare & Square Tour

Explore our beautiful Capital City through delicious bites and sights on our Fare & Square tour, in partnership with Madison Eats Food Tours. Our “snack size” tour is a great way to get a little of everything. We pack in sightseeing, a dash of city history, a few cocktails, and delicious food tastings. Perfect as a happy hour experience or as a full dining event.

Our guided tour includes the following stops:

  • The Wisconsin State Capitol
  • Upper State Street
  • Fresco Rooftop and Restaurant

Begin your experience at Johnny Delmonico’s Steakhouse with happy hour appetizers and a cocktail. Meet the chef, talk with your tour guide, then head out on a guided tour around the impressive Capitol Square and down State Street. Learn a bit of our city’s history and architecture on your way to dinner at Fresco Rooftop Restaurant. Fresco sits atop the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, boasting a modern feel with stunning views of State Street and the Capitol. The Fare & Square Tour is available for private bookings for parties of 10 or more. Scheduling is based on restaurant and Madison Eats Food Tours’ schedule. Private tours can be booked most days and evenings with the exception of Friday and Saturday. A 50% deposit is required upon booking to hold the tour route, date, and guide.

MENU OPTIONS

Your menu for the Fare & Square Tour can be tailored to the experience that works best for you and your guests. We have three dining experiences available to choose from. These experiences can be made to accommodate most dietary restrictions, including vegetarian, gluten-sensitive, and non-alcoholic. Please notify us of any allergies* at the time of booking.

The First Course | $59 per person

This 2.5-hour tour includes appetizers and cocktail samples at Johnny Delmonico’s Steakhouse and Fresco Rooftop Restaurant.

Sample Menu:
A Wisconsin Old Fashioned, Fried Calamari, and Roasted Beet Carpaccio at Johnny Delmonico’s.
Carafes of Wine Punches and individual portions of Crispy Fried Brussels Sprouts and Gazpacho at Fresco Rooftop Restaurant.


The Sampler | $79 per person

This 3-hour tour includes appetizers and a cocktail sample at Johnny Delmonico’s Steakhouse, plus a dinner sampling with dessert, wine, and a cocktail at Fresco Rooftop Restaurant.

A Wisconsin Old Fashioned, Fried Calamari, and Roasted Beet Carpaccio at Johnny Delmonico’s.
Carafes of Wine Punches, a glass of Wine, individual portions of Crispy Fried Brussels Sprouts and Gazpacho, pared-down entrées of Salmon Scafata and Gnocchi, and Dessert Platters at Fresco Rooftop Restaurant.


The Full Taste | $119 per person

This 3.5-hour tour includes appetizers and a cocktail sample at Johnny Delmonico’s Steakhouse, plus a full 3-course dinner at Fresco Rooftop Restaurant.

For The Full Taste, Fresco staff will work with you to create your own custom experience, from drinks to course options.

Prices include tax and tip.

*Please note, our kitchens are not allergen-free environments. Please be aware that during normal kitchen operations involving shared cooking and preparation areas (including common fryer oil), the possibility exists for food items to come in contact with other food products.



PAYMENT, REFUND, & CANCELLATION POLICY

Private food tour tickets sold less than 14 days from the agreed tour date require full payment to hold a specific date and tour time. Final headcount and remaining balance (non-refundable) paid via credit card are due seven business days prior to the event.

Within 7 days of the tour, all tickets are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled. Ticket price will be refunded in full if cancellation notice occurs more than 7 days of the tour. No refunds will be given for no-shows or last-minute cancellations.

We reserve the right to cancel private tours due to tour guide emergency or illness, or other emergencies. We strive to find a suitable substitute in these cases to avoid any inconvenience to tour registrants. If we have to cancel a private group event, we will refund you in full.


  • The Fare & Square tour is only available by private booking.
  • Tours are rain or shine. If we have to cancel the tour due to extreme weather, we will refund your money in full.
  • There is a minimum of 10 participants required to book the Fare & Square tour.
  • If you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, please let us know at the time of booking.
  • We tip all restaurant staff and that is included in your ticket price. Any additional tips are at your discretion.
  • Must be 21 years of age to sample any alcoholic beverages.
  • Specific tour stops and inclusions are subject to change without notice.
  • Tours begin with an introduction, so if you are running late, you will still be able to find us, however, we will start our food tastings on time.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Activity Level

This tour will cover a little over .5 miles from start to finish. It includes some stairs and light walking. About half of this tour will be outside, please be prepared for the weather and bring appropriate accessories to keep yourself comfortable; sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, umbrella, etc.

Parking

Please note, the tour starts at Johnny Delmonico’s Steakhouse and ends at Fresco which is an estimated 10-15 minute walk. There are several options for parking in downtown Madison, including metered street parking and parking ramps.

If you choose to park near Fresco and walk to Johnny Delmonico’s Steakhouse prior to the tour, please allow 15 minutes additional time.
